Good work should be available for everyone, not just people who can already afford it.

Areté Collective reserves a portion of its capacity every month for pro bono career coaching and resume services for individuals experiencing economic hardship. This is not a side program or an afterthought. It is part of how this business was designed, from the beginning.

The Why

One of the things that has bothered Kate most throughout her career in talent acquisition is how much the outcome of a job search depends on access to information and support that is not equally distributed.

People with professional networks get referrals. People who can pay for coaching learn how to tell their story well. People who know someone in HR understand how the process works. And the people who need the work most, who are navigating a job search in the middle of real financial pressure, are the ones doing it entirely on their own.

That's not a meritocracy. It's a head start for some and a handicap for others, dressed up as a level playing field.

Areté Collective's Access and Inclusion program exists to push back on that, in a direct, personal, and practical way. It's not a donation or a feel-good initiative. It's a commitment to using this work to actually change someone's trajectory, one person at a time.

Because this is what values in action looks like. Not a statement on a website. An hour of real coaching with someone who needs it.

What the Program Offers

Pro Bono Career Coaching

A limited number of career coaching sessions per month are reserved for individuals experiencing economic hardship, including those who are unemployed, recently laid off, navigating re-entry after a significant life event, or working in roles significantly below their experience level due to financial necessity. Sessions focus on the highest-leverage conversations: clarity, positioning, and job search activation.

Pro Bono Resume Services

Resume review and rewrite for individuals who are in active job search and cannot access professional resume help. This includes resume feedback with written notes, a full rewrite for those who qualify, and LinkedIn headline and summary guidance. Priority is given to individuals who have been out of the workforce, are making a significant career change due to necessity, or are navigating systemic barriers to employment.

Interview Preparation Support

One-session mock interview and feedback for individuals preparing for a role that represents a meaningful step forward in their career and financial stability. The emphasis is on practical, grounded preparation that addresses both the functional and emotional dimensions of high-stakes interviews

Who Can Apply

  • Individuals who are currently unemployed or underemployed due to economic hardship
  • People navigating re-entry to the workforce after caregiving, health challenges, or life disruption
  • First-generation professionals who do not have family networks with access to career coaching or professional guidance
  • Individuals from underrepresented communities facing structural barriers in their job search
  • Recent graduates from under-resourced schools or programs without institutional career support
